Gatlinburg, Tenn. (AP) -- Most facilities and seasonal roads in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park opened for the tourist season today.
Roads include the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail, Little Greenbrier, Rich Mountain and Straight Fork/Round Bottom.
Clingman's Dome Road is set to open April first.
The visitors centers at Sugarlands, Cades Cove and Oconaluftee are open.
Family campgrounds are opening on a staggered basis with Elkmont, Cosby, Abrams Creek, Big Creek and Cataloochee opening today.
There's new national system that allows people to make reservations in the Smokies and at other federally-managed recreation areas online or by phone.
Campsites can be reserved up to six months in advance and group campsites can be reserved a year in advance.
