Mother: Murdered Teen was Led on by Suspect's Wife

Knoxville (AP) -- The mother of a teenager says her son was having an affair with a student teacher before he was fatally shot.

Sean Powell was struck in the head by a bullet Saturday night as he sat in a car in front of Jason and Erin McLean's home in Knoxville.

Police have charged 31-year-old Jason Eric McLean with first-degree murder.

Powell's birth mother is Debra Flynn, who claims the 30-year-old Erin Mclean "preyed" on her son and "led him on." Flynn says Powell told her about the affair and said he'd asked Erin McLean to marry him.

Erin McLean began student teaching at West High school in August.

School officials say Powell was a student there, but quit in November after turning 18.

Police have said there was a relationship between Powell and McLean, but declined to be more specific.

The McLeans have been married about eleven years and have two children.
