Knoxville (WVLT) - A Loudon Elementary School student fufilled her dream today in giving her handicapped friend a way to enjoy being on the playground like her other classmates.

The girl found a $25,000 swing on the internet, raised the money, and Friday it was dedicated to her fellow student.

Volunteer TV's Stephen McLamb has the latest.

"She's a good buddy isn't she? Yes."

Happy tears as a yearlong project for Lindsey Towne is complete after she raised $25,000 to buy a Liberty Swing for Blake Goins who is handicapped.

In front of the students at Loudon elementary, Blake got to swing for the first time in more than five years.

"Woah! Woah! Woah!"

Lindsey Towne says, "To know that Blake wouldn't be left out anymore it made me feel really happy because he won't be known as the wheelchair boy anymore. He'll be known as Blake."

"No hands!"

The owner of the Liberty swing found out about Lindsey's efforts and was so impressed he flew Lindsey and her mother to Australia where the swing is built.

"When I rode it I thought this would be great for Blake," says Towne.

For Lindsey and her mom, it's been a very busy year but a dream come true.

"Putting Blake on that swing and seeing his face and seeing Lindsey's face, I stopped complaining," says Sabrina Suckling.

Blake Goins says, "It's awesome, Great!"

Local people were recognized for their efforts in erecting the swing but Lindsey's dreams haven't stopped. She now wants new laws for all parks.

"Has to be handicapped accesible and there has to be something the handicapped can do," says Towne.

The Liberty swing owner was so impressed with Lindsey's efforts he gave a second swing to the town that is currently being assembled in the city park and will be completed in the near future.
