Early this morning the Department of Defense confirmed that a solider from East Tennessee was killed Thursday in Baghdad, Iraq during combat operations.
Staff Sgt. Terry W. Prater, 25, of Speedwell in Claiborne County was one of four troops killed when an improvised explosive device was detonated near his unit. All four were assigned to the 1st Squadron, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, out of Fort Hood, Texas.
