Knoxville (AP) -- Authorities in Knoxville say a 23-year-old woman intentionally starved her toddler son.
Police have charged Anjanette Fealy with aggravated child abuse and neglect
She appeared in court Monday with her attorney and waived her case to a grand jury.
Fealy is being held in jail in lieu of $100,000 dollars bond.
Police investigator Debra Maberry says the boy's father alerted authorities to the child's plight.
Authorities say the 22-month-old child is so malnourished that he may have suffered permanent neurological damage.
Maberry noted in her report the child is still not speaking.
State officials have placed the child with a family relative.
