Knoxville (WVLT) - An escaped Knox County Jail inmate is back in custody.
Demarcus Johnson was arrested about 90 minutes ago at the Southmont apartment complex on South Moody.
Deputies had been searching for him since Monday when he escaped while being moved to Knox County's maximum security jail.
He fled from the Sally Port, the inmate loading area, through the City-County Building – at one time riding an elevator with the County Mayor's Communications Director.
What followed was an all out search that ended peacefully Wednesday.
Johnson had faced charges of aggravated assault.
More charges are pending.
