Local Soldier Returns Home From Iraq

Knoxville (WVLT) - It was an exciting homecoming for one local soldier who has spent the last several months fighting in Iraq.

Private First Class Joshua Stevens has been in Rhamadi for the past 8 months.

And Friday, he was welcomed back to Knoxville by a beautiful spring day and by his mother Melissa Stevens.

Joshua says that he and his fellow men and women in uniform have been doing a lot of good overseas and that he hasn't seen a lot of destruction, at least in his area for quite some time.

Joshua says he plans to spend his time home here by seeing friends and family and doing many of the things that we take for granted.

That might be hard though, since his mom Melissa says she's might not let him out of her sight!

"It's been a little over a year I was happy to see them," says PFC Stevens.

"Everyday seems like forever, you know, but today it finally came true," Melissa Stevens says.

Joshua's trip will be short though, he will head back to Iraq in two weeks.
