Knoxville (AP) -- After nearly a century, the University of Tennessee College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources will be headed by a woman for the first time.
Caula Beyl will replace former Dean C.A. Speer who resigned to return to research.
She currently serves as the interim Dean of Graduate Studies at Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University, where she has worked since 1980.
Beyl holds a doctorate in plant environmental stress physiology and a master's degree in horticulture from Purdue University. She earned a bachelor's of science in biology from Florida Atlantic University.
