Investigators Label Boat Fire Suspicious

Knoxville (WVLT) - A barge fire this morning west of the South Knoxville bridge is being labeled as suspicious.

Knoxville firefighters say just before 10:15 a.m., they responded to a boat on fire, with flames shooting from the vessel.

Investigators say the barge had been grounded for over a year and there was no power going to it.

The owners, who are from Chattanooga, were supposed to pick it up last summer, but never arrived.

The fire was out within ten minutes.
