KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – The Greater Knoxville area hotel housekeeper’s competing on Monday afternoon in the Knoxville Tourism Alliance Housekeeping Championship.
The competition took place downtown at the Knoxville Convention Exhibition Center Hall #1 and was designed to let members of the local lodging industry let loose while having fun. It was made up of eight unusual events that incorporated many items used daily by housekeepers. Some examples included the “Luggin’ Laundry” obstacle course and “The Invasion of the Commode Snatchers,” a basketball like contest using a roll of toilet paper as the ball and a toilet seat as the hoop.
Students from the hospitality/lodging programs at the University of Tennessee and Pellissippi State Community College umpired the games.
The overall competition was won by the defending champions, a team from the Hilton Garden Inn on Peregrine Way in West Knoxville.
