Assault In UT Parking Garage

Knoxville (WVLT) - UT police are looking for a suspect in an assault earlier today.

The UTPD sent out an email to students earlier today, warning them to avoid shortcuts and to stay in well-lit areas.

University police say a girl was assaulted at 12:30 this afternoon in the stairwell of the parking garage at the corner of 11th Street and Cumberland Avenue.

They say the suspect fled after the student fought back.

The victim described the suspect as an Hispanic man with dark hair in his mid twenties and about five foot five. He was wearing ski goggles at the time. Anyone with information is asked to call UTPD at (865) 974-3114.
