Sevierville (WVLT) -- A life threatening disease doesn't mean you can't reach for the stars.
Scenic Helicopter Tours in Sevierville believes just that and proved it on Saturday while hosting their Sixth Annual Helicopter Awareness Days event to helps to raise money for the Smoky Mountain Children's Home and East Tennessee Children's Hospital.
Part of the event allows sick children and their families to go for helicopter rides, something some families were grateful for.
"Just from the look on his face," said Dan Hickson," it thrilled him, he's wanting to go back again."
"My favorite part would have to be when he was coming in," said Alex Hickson who has Leukemia, "he took a bid swerve and was going real fast and just kind of slowed down. It was really cool."
A formal Pilots Gala was held on Saturday night tonight and the event will conclude on Sunday afternoon.
When all is said and done, organizers hope to have raised $40,000 for the two charities.
