Roy Mullins Recommends Changes To Rezoning Plan

Knoxville (WVLT) - We have a developing story to pass along to you on the proposed Knox County rezoning plan.

We've just learned Interim School Superintendent Roy Mullins sent a letter to the Knox County Board of Education late this afternoon identifying four changes he'd like to make to the plan.

Those changes mostly involve neighborhoods in the Bearden, Austin-East, and Carter communities.

It saddens me to read to comments of Mr. Mullin's letter to the School Board. He didn't even mention the Powell Community. I guess our kids aren't as important as the West end kids. Our Kids,Schools and Communities are still going to be ripped apart all to please Farragut. It all becomes a part of political games being played by School Board members and the Community-being Farragut, with our KIDS EDUCATION and WELL BEING.I just hope that you all will keep the Powell Community and School in tact on the West side and the East side. Some of our kids will not ajust to the relocating as well as you have convensed yourselves they will. The shy, quiet kids will have a hard time with making friends, and trying to fit into a new school. For them trying to find their place will not be easy. Some will quit playing in the band, for instance, or maybe quit playing sports, taking part in chorus and clubs. The kids are my biggest concern here. Hope you will think about all of the harm the School Board will be doing. Thank you.
