Knoxville (WVLT) - An East Tennessee man, involved in a chase and shot by a Grainger County Sheriff's deputy has been arraigned on theft and evading arrest charges.
Authorities say 32-year-old Mickey McGuire was shot several times when he tried to run over a deputy with a pick-up truck.
The officer then chased McGuire into Knox County, where he was taken into custody.
Grainger County Sheriff James Harville says McGuire was shot four to seven times by the deputy.
McGuire was treated and released at UT Medical Center and then transported to the Grainger County jail where he is being held a $10,000 bond.
McGuire is expected back in court May eleventh.
The deputy who shot McGuire is on paid administrative leave, pending the outcome of the investigation.
His name is not being released at this time.
