Man Accused of Raping Fort Sanders Employee Posts Bond

Knoxville (WVLT) - A Knoxville man is out on bond this morning, accused of raping an employee at Fort Sanders Hospital.

Authorities say Marcus Mynatt was working at Fort Sanders last December when he grabbed the victim and carried her into a room and locked the door.

He then allegedly raped her, only stopping because there was a knock at the door.

Fort Sanders says Mynatt is no longer an employee.

I was truly taken aback by this news story by the mere fact that it was broadcast by only one station in Knoxville. Although I feel rape is a very serious offense, I am questioning the motives of broadcasting this particular case. I would like to know how many rape cases there have been in Knoxville? How many involved an African American Male as the suspect and a white female as the victim? How many of those cases did this news station deem necessary or news worthy enough to broadcast during there 6:00pm broadcast. I truly feel that if this had not been a black/white crime that it would not have been broadcast. I would also like to know what the person that reported this and accused this person thinks constitutes a rape? In this case is this rape IF rape is a form of assault where an individual forces another to have sexual intercourse against that person’s will. Is a consentual act still rape? I feel that this should have been fully investigated prior to the broadcast. Although it does say that a person is innocent until proven guilty that is not always the case when it involves the african american male. Was this suspects innocence taken into consideration prior to the broadcast? As you are very much aware, this is a serious offense and can be extremely demeaning to ones character regardless of the outcome. When this person is proven innocent, will this news station ALSO report THAT?

It is a sad day, which seems to be every day when people can hear or read negetive comments about others and judge these people without real proof let's let the lawyers prove their cases before we jump the gun and point fingers. There are families with children involved on both sides let's not pass ours unproved jugdements onto them,

I agree with the Mystery Lady: Stop judging the man. Pray for him and his family. He has a family that is hearing all of this negativity. If this happened in December why is it in the news now? Why does he not work for Fort Sanders anymore and she does? Women we need to stop saying rape because we are hurting those who are being rape and need help. What is she looking to get out of this? Is the lady white? If so BLACK MEN stay away from these lady and get a Black Sister. Marcus is a good person. He has a great personality. He needs the support of his people. Marcus I am with you. I do not know what happen but God knows. He says in his word " He is always with you". Call on the name Jesus.....He will be the lawyer in the court......Believe his word. God Bless you and your family.

For all of the judgemental people at this hospital Fort Sanders Regional. Marcus Mynatt was a very good employee at this hospital out of about 6 years of employment he never has had any accusations made of any sexual allegations before now and this girl and I say girl needs to check herself since she had a man of her own at thw same hospital but constantly flirts and the word is she on a persistant basis is always trying to get with many of the men employed at Fort Sanders. The thing is what is her ulterior motive did she just get rejected ? Are is she trying to get paid? And Mr.Mynatt who just happen to be a african american huh this is so old with white/women with a black man she just got busted and to bail out she wants to hollar rape. And all of the stupid other people that believe this need to come to there own conclusion that not everyone is always a victim meaning female like this one accusing Mr.MYNATT it sounds like to me that he is the TRUE VICTIM of this Bias Society still trying to racially stereotype african men . And to the other idiot that submitted the comment below about men always taking advantage of women first check your vocabulary and learn to use correct spelling then check yourself cause apparently you have been in unsuccessful relationships and to the lady that said he look creepy while working at the hospital you or more than likely a unhappily built female that just wanted him to look at you since you obviously was admiring him. Also if a man violates any woman as in rape and beyond any shadow of any doubt found to be guilty of this then yes he should be prosecuted but again the accused Marcus Mynatt is innocent until proven to be found guilty by the court of law and not by the judgemental ignorant people like yourself. Marcus Mynatt will prevail and walk away prouder than he was the day this article was released.

I have known Marcus for years and I know that he would do nothing like this. The woman accusing should also be looked at as a false accuser trying to get herself out of trouble at work and maybe with her significant other. This accusation can ruin lives and families and she needs to be a real woman and admit her wrong doing as well.

i have worked with both the alleged victim and the alleged accusser.i think that "rape" is a strong accussation to make.i hope that the alleged victim really understands the consequences of making such acussations and the damage it causes to all parties involved.its never okay when some one says STOP. its also never ok to accuse someone of something just to "save face" when you're caught in a predicument.i just pray that for the sake of both parties involved, their families and loved ones that the truth comes out soon and that the public stop being so quick to judge. (lets not forget about the duke lacrosse team and all the trials and tribulations they had to endure last year.)

i worked and personally knew marcus and i do not believe he raped anyone for one minute, ALthough he was always flirty with every woman he does not have a mean bone in his body. He was always helpful and kind to the patients and staff.

after knowing both people in this situation you cannot judge someone because of an allogation. Also there have been instenses of women claiming rape and it being fake and the person (Marcus in this case) still being convicted and gone to jail. I would say that it would be awful hard to carry someone down the hall into a room and lock the door without someone hearing or seeing you. JUDGE NO ONE LOOK AT YOURSELF AND IM SURE YOUVE MADE WRONG DECISIONS BEFORE
