UPDATE: Man Died of Smoke Inhalation

Knoxville (WVLT) - Local authorities now say the preliminary cause of death of body found in West Knoxville is smoke inhalation.

Wednesday, a driver called into police to report a field fire at Middlebrook Pike and Proctor.

After putting out the fire, KFD discovered a body.

Police say it's of a 55 to 56 year old white male.

A positive ID has not yet been made.

At the time the body was found, police referred to the area as a homeless camp.
