White Pine Honors Local Hero

White Pine, Jefferson County (WVLT) - An East Tennessee town has honored their hometown hero once again, with a parade and a special day just for him.

The folks in white pine deemed Saturday "Brad Walker Day" after Corporal Bradley Walker who just returned home earlier this week.

The marine was hit by a roadside bomb in Iraq last November and lost both his legs.

He's spend the last few months in rehab and is now walking on two prosthetic legs and with a cane.

The community has been working since then to help brad and his family out, even renovating his home to make sure he could get around.

"I don't really know what to say overall, I mean it's just like I'm speechless," said Walker.

Those who had a hand in the party plans say it's all for a man who's very special to their town.

"White Pine is just a family town and they really have a heart for Brad and love him and want to honor him," said Sandy Smith, who helped with the plans.

Corporal Walker will soon return to Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC for more rehabilitation.

After that, he plans to go to college.
