Local Volunteer To Help Kansas Tornado Victims

Knoxville (WVLT) - A deadly tornado that struck Greensburg, Kansas Friday night has claimed ten lives.

But rescue teams did find a survivor among the wreckage, days after the 205 mile an hour twister hit the town.

Monday, residents were allowed back onto their property, where homes once stood.

And Red Cross officials are on the scene, trying to help the victims work through this tragedy.

In fact, volunteer Robert Dyer is get ready to join the other volunteers already in Greensburg. "I just really enjoy helping the people out that just lost their homes and everything. July lost family members or a homes and they're wanting somebody to talk to and you're the first people they meet. So it's just a great, the Red Cross is just a great organization."

Dyer says, the best way you can help is by donating to the local Red Cross chapter.

Officials will make sure all of the money collected will be sent to Kansas.
