Second Cocke County Escapee Captured

White Pine, Jefferson County (WVLT) - The second Cocke County inmate that escaped more than a week ago is back behind bars.

Just over an hour ago, Gary Harris was captured at a trailer park in White Pine in Jefferson County.

Authorities tell WVLT, Harris attempted to flee but was captured and deputies had to Taser him.

Harris was not hurt during the capture.

Investigators say he, and fellow inmate William Swafford overpowered two guards at the Cocke County Jail, and locked them in with other inmates to make their escape.

Jefferson County deputies arrested William Swafford at a trailer park in Dandridge.

They were both in jail on burglary charges.

    I'm glad Gary is caught. He is the reason my neice is in jail. They should lock him up and throw away the key.
