Seymour Residents Say Proposed Ball Park Isn't Practical

Seymour (WVLT) - Folks living on north Knob Creek Road in Sevier County say a proposed park in their community isn't practical.

Neighbors say the Optimist Club is leasing this land from Sevier County, and they plan to build a sports complex complete with softball fields, indoor/outdoor basketball courts and soccer fields.

Residents are worried they won't be able to use it because it will be gated and used mostly for ballgames and tournaments.

"The residents of this area cannot go and use that at anytime they want. We'd love to have a park over there - walking path, dog park, playground, picnic tables. That would be wonderful, however, it's not going to be that," resident Chris V. Eecke said.

"There's actually a community park up off Chapman that would accommodate what they want to do here," resident Edgar Davis said.

The community has held several meetings and have spoke with commissioners about the problems. They say this fight isn't over yet.
