Morristown (WVLT) - A special gift tonight for a local high school teacher getting ready to leave for Iraq.
Sergeant Scott Hopkins, who teaches at Morristown West, is leaving on Friday to serve his country in Iraq, but he says he has no way to keep in touch with his elderly mother.
Students at the school raised enough money to buy two laptop computers - one for Hopkins and one for his mother.
Hopkins says he's touched by this gift.
"I'm overwhelmed. The love, support, the generosity from the student body, the faculty, the administrators. I'm truly touched. I'm just overwhelmed by the response," Hopkins said.
Hopkins leaves on May 11th.
