Karns High School Teacher Placed on Administrative Leave

Knoxville (WVLT) - A special education teacher at Karns High School is on paid administrative leave.

Knox County School Spokesman Russ Oaks tells us Cathy Romanczuk is accused of taping a student's mouth closed on Friday. The incident was reported by another staff member, and the teacher was placed on leave on Monday.

Oaks tells us Romanczuk's contract had not been renewed prior to this incident, so she will not return to Knox County Schools next year.

She's only been at Karns for a few months.
