Car Crashes Off Interstate and Into Best Buy Parking Lot

(WVLT) - A car has gone off I-40 in West Knoxville and nearly hit a building.

The accident happened at about 6:30am.

The vehicle was apparently on I-40 Eastbound when it went off the highway and ended up in the rear parking lot of Best Buy off Cedar Bluff.

Our crews on the scene say the vehicle is resting on it's side, up against Best Buy, but there doesn't appear to be much damage to the building.

Paramedics took the one person that was in the vehicle to U.T. Medical Center. His condition and identity are not being released at this time.

You know, this is twice over the past year a vehicle has left the Interstate around Cedar Bluff...A tractor trailer did it about a year ago, and ended up in the parking lot of the La Quinta might be a good idea NOT to park in back parking lots along that stretch...

He was not flying, nor was it the fault of coffee. Due to a medical condition, he lost consciousness. The people who made the other comments should learn some compassion and show some concern for the driver of this vehicle.

He'll probably blame it on McDonald's coffee being too hot!
