Knoxville (WVLT) - Knoxville Police Department investigators are looking into whether two overnight assaults are connected.
Knoxville Police say right now there are facts gathering because they have a lot of conflicting reports coming from witnesses and the two people involved.
But they do know that an overnight alleged rape and alleged assault both in Downtown Knoxville are connected and that the act was not random. Police say everyone involved does appear to be an acquaintance.
All police say now is that a woman was examined at Baptist Hospital after an alleged rape and a man was transported by ambulance after being assaulted. Both occurred on Grand Avenue near a homeless camp. Officers say they are not sure at this time if the two victims are homeless or not.
Police aren't saying how the two victims are connected, but will say both happened in this exact area.
We are working to get more details and will post them as soon as they become available.
