(WVLT) - A Sevierville man is in the hospital after police say a device he was trying to make exploded in his hands.
Officers say 19 year-old Jonathan Hayes was trying to make a pyrotechnic device Tuesday, when it exploded, injuring his hands and face.
He was airlifted by lifestar to U.T. Medical Center with critical injuries.
Police say he underwent surgery and the hospital now lists him in stable condition.
Officers are still investigating the incident.
So far, no charges have been filed.
