Homeowner and Pet Rescued from Burning House

(WVLT) - Fire crews rescued a homeowner and her pet from a burning house in North Knox County.

Rural/Metro responded to a call of a fire at a home on Babelay Road at about 1:30am Wednesday morning with one person still trapped inside.

They were able to get the woman out.

Paramedics took her to U.T. Medical Center to be treated for smoke inhalation.

Fire crews also discovered a cat in the home, and treated it with oxygen to try and revive it.

They believe to cat will be okay and planned on taking it to a vet hospital.

Investigators say the fire started in the kitchen of the home, but an exact cause is unknown.

I would like to commend the members of the rural/metro fire crew for their rescue of the lady and their heroic efforts to revive the cat on Wednesday morning. It truly shows their dedication towards saving life, whether of the two or four legged variety.
