Knoxville (AP) -- The Department of Energy's nuclear weapons and research complex in Oak Ridge is providing nearly 12,000 full-time jobs and a payroll of more than $763 million.
The figures are contained in a University of Tennessee report released Thursday.
Matt Murray, lead author of the report, said the complex represents a very important business.
The agency's Oak Ridge operations include the Y-12 nuclear weapons plant and the Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
They spent almost $2 billion in Tennessee last year.
