Rutledge (WVLT) -- A bat bite has closed the Grainger County Clerks Office within the county courthouse.
Grainger County emergency management officials tell WVLT that an employee in the clerks office was bit by a bat yesterday.
Tests are currently being run on the employee and the captured bat to determine if it may have carried rabies.
Officials tell us the clerks office is currently being sanitized. It would have been closed on Monday for Memorial day and will re-open on Tuesday.
The clerks office is the only part of the courthouse that is closed for sanitation.
It is located in the old court room in the Northeastern section of the courthouse.
