Toddler Drowns in Neighbor's Pond

(WVLT) - A two year-old boy in Sevier County has drowned after falling into a neighbor's pond.

The Sevier County Sheriff's Department says two year-old Benjamin Mullins was playing outside his home off Thomas Loop Road on Wednesday, when he wandered into a neighboring yard and fell into a man-made pond.

Family members and neighbors tried to revive Benjamin and paramedics took over when they arrived.

Doctors pronounced him dead a little later at Sevier Medical Center.

Investigators say it was an accident.

PARENTS HAVE TO BE AWARE THAT THINGS LIKE THIS CAN HAPPEN AND TAKE ACTION. IT IS A PARENTS RESPONSIBILITY TO PREVENT SUCH TRAGEDY. ONCE IT HAPPENS IT IS TO LATE.
