Washington DC (WVLT) -- From DC, to all around the country, thousands gathered this morning to "Race for a Cure."
About 40,000 women and 450 men die from breast cancer each year.
The Susan G. Komen foundation stages the large race annually to raise money for breast cancer education and outreach.
DC's race starts on the National Mall and provides its runners with views of the city's monuments.
