Montreat, NC (AP) -- The ailing wife of evangelist Billy graham has died in her Western North Carolina home at the age of 87.
Ruth Graham died at just after 5:00 p.m. Thursday afternoon after her condition worsened. She had been bedridden for months and slipped into a coma yesterday. She had been semi-comatose since then.
Graham died surrounded by her husband and all five children.
In a statement, Billy Graham says his wife was a vital part of their ministry. He says his work through the years would have been impossible without her encouragement and support.
Billy Graham also says he looks forward even more to the day that he can join his wife in Heaven.
Earlier this week, the Graham family announced that Ruth and Billy will be buried at the recently opened Billy Graham Library in Charlotte.
