Knoxville (WVLT) - Former TVA board member Bill Baxter says his reputation has been unfairly damaged.
It comes following a federal prosecutor's comment calling Baxter an unindicted co-conspirator during the fraud trial of state Senator Jerry Cooper.
Baxter, who was the Commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community development under former Governor Don Sundquist, said he was blindsided by the accusation last week.
The Assistant US Attorney Gary Humble did not charge Baxter with a crime, but said Baxter helped Cooper get a state grant and loan money in a 1999 land deal.
Cooper was acquitted in the trial.
