Dolly Parton To Be Named Lifetime Member Of Girl Scouts

Pigeon Forge, Sevier County (AP) -- Dolly Parton has become a country music singer, songwriter, movie star, amusement park owner and philanthropist. Now she's going to be a Girl Scout.

Parton will be named a lifetime member of Girls Scouts of Tanasi Council during a presentation at her Dollywood theme park this evening.

She said that while she was never a Girl Scout herself, she always wanted to be.

Parton will be joined by more than 1,000 Girl Scouts when she is presented the lifetime membership pin and led in the Girl Scout Promise.

Parton also will honor 28 scouts who have achieved the Gold Award, the highest honor in Girl Scouts.

The Tanasi Council has 10,000 members in 16 East Tennessee counties.
