(WVLT) - An investigation has found that the deadly shooting of a robbery suspect in Maryville last month was justified.
Investigators say Daniel Pfeffer was armed with a knife when he tried to rob a CVS Pharmacy on May 31st, and that he ran towards officers with a hatchet.
That's when the officers shot and killed him.
The Maryville Police Department conducted an internal investigation and say the officers acted within the boundaries of the department's policy.
The District Attorney General's office and Death Investigation Review Team both looked over the results.
The two officers involved, Ronnie Pryor and Dwight Porter, are now off administrative leave and back on duty.
