Suspect Dead after Five Hour Standoff

(WVLT) - A man is dead in Morgan County after police say he held them at a five-hour standoff.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says says it started with some sort of domestic situation with a man who had just recently been released from a mental health facility.

They say the suspect set fire to his truck last night on Guy Jones Road in Coalfield.

When firefighters and police arrived, they say the suspect fired at them and police fired back.

After several hours, they discovered the suspect dead.

It's unknown at this time if he was killed by an officer's bullet or if he took his own life.
