Prisoner Escapes Police Custody

Knoxville (WVLT) - Knoxville Police continue their search for a man they say escaped from their custody early Tuesday morning.

Authorities say they arrested 38-year-old Willie Daniels just before 4:00 a.m. for misdemeanor traffic charges and failure to appear in court.

Now officers say he's also facing felony charges.

Officials say Daniels was handcuffed in the back of a police cruiser when an officer drove him to the City-County Building to get a signature on the warrants from the Commissioner. That's when investigators say he got away.

If you have seen Daniels you are asked to call 911.

Officers say they believe he could still be in our area.
