Pelot's Celebrate 50 Years Of Marriage

Knoxville (WVLT) -- A Knoxville husband and wife are golden.

Much of the community turned out this afternoon to celebrate the 50th wedding anniversary of Reuben and Barbara Pelot.

The Pelot's have four children and 14 grand children.

According to Mrs. Pelot, she is thankful for everything God has given her.

"Mostly I just want to thank the good lord for 50 years together and such a wonderful partner to share the so many things we've been involved with in the community," she said. "It's a wonderful occasion, I just wish everyone could experience this."

The Pelot's have been volunteering in the community for decades.

Reuben is a general dentist and Barbara represents the second district on the Knoxville City Council.

I think it's infuriating that Barbara Pelot "pulled strings" by calling Assitant Knox County DA John Gill in the case of her granddaughter as said by her daughter in this transcript found at

My mother grew up next door to Nibby and his family in Crossville. I would like to congratulate them on their anniversary. How wonderful to have such a history. Here is hoping you enjoy many more years together. Jane Tollett is my mother, and I am named for Nib's sister, Joan Rice.
