Tenn. Creates New Position to Manage Energy Policy

Nashville (AP) -- The State Department of Economic and Community Development announced the creation of a new position to manage the state's energy policy Wednesday.

The appointment of Ryan Gooch as the Director of Energy Policy comes on the heels of the US Energy Department announcement this week that Oak Ridge is among three centers slated to receive $125 million to research new biofuel technologies over five years.

The 27-year-old Gooch will begin his new job Monday. His responsibilities will include overseeing the state's overall energy initiatives and serving on the Governor's Alternative Fuels Working Group.
