Four Tractor Trailers Involved in I-40 Crash

Dandridge, Jefferson County (WVLT) - Several people are hurt after a crash involving four tractor trailers.

The accident happened on I-40 westbound at exit 412 in Jefferson County at about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday night.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol says all four semi-trucks were traveling westbound when the first slowed down because of some construction.

The last truck in line slammed into the one in front of it and caused a chain reaction.

All four trucks were heavily damaged, the engine of one was actually knocked out of the truck and landed in the median.

Trooper John Woods with THP says paramedics took three of the truck drivers to the hospital, the fourth was not hurt.

Two of the drivers have already been released from the hospital.

The third has more serious injuries and was airlifted to U.T. Medical Center.

Trooper Woods says none of the trucks were carrying anything hazardous.

No citations were issued.
