Knoxville (WVLT) -- One of Knoxville's finest restaurants is closing its doors.
Last night's dinner was the last ever sitting at Riverside Tavern.
The 10-year old restaurant played a vital role in the refurbishing of Downtown Knoxville.
However, Knoxvillians will hopefully be able to indulge in another upscale restaurant as the new the tenant will hopefully be Ruth's Chris.
The upscale steakhouse is a popular eatery in other metropolitan areas.
"If a high end national brand, like a Ruth's Chris Steakhouse is interested in coming to the market and coming to downtown Knoxville, it's a heck of a tribute to downtown and how far we've come in the last ten years," said Mike Cohen, Riverside Spokesman.
The opening of Ruth's Chris is still pending the final approval from city officials.
Riverside employees have been given severance packages.
Some of the staff will work at the owner's two other East Tennessee restaurants.
