Southbound Lane of Pellissppi Closed After Sinkhole Fears

Knoxville (WVLT) - TDOT leaders say one south bound lane on Pellissippi Parkway, south of the Oak Ridge Highway interchange is closed until further notice.

The lane closure is caused by an impression in the road in the area of a massive sinkhole back in May.

TDOT engineers are now core drilling in that area to determine what repairs need to be done.

In May, TDOT crews repaired a 30 foot deep sink hole, filling it with 720 tons of rock and 40 yards of concrete.

Drivers coming into Knox County from Oak Ridge are urged to plan an alternate route.
