OAK RIDGE, Tenn. (AP) -- A man crashed a car into a barrier outside Oak Ridge's nuclear weapons plant early Monday morning before fleeing on foot.
The driver was stopped at a security checkpoint near the rear entrance to the Y-12 plant around 5:00 a.m. Guards say he appeared to be impaired in some way.
Authorities say he was asked for identification, but instead drove through the check point and crashed into deployed security barriers a short distance away.
Oak Ridge Police say the man appeared to run toward town. They are still searching for him.
