Top Loudon Jailer Fired

Loudon, Loudon County (WVLT) - After being terminated two years ago for violating department policy only to return, Loudon County's jail administrator has been fired.

Captain Bill Shirk was fired Friday from his job as the county's chief jailer.

According to Sheriff's Department records, Shirk was placed on administrative leave July 18 for removing records from the jail.

Records say Shirk had removed records which would have verified supplies that were purchased for the jail.

Shirk's attorney, Herb Moncier, has declined comment.

I know Sheriff Guider and Bill Shirk and both are good, dedicated law emforvement officers. The courts will decide if Bill Shirk did anything wrong, but to accuse the Sheriff of being corrupt for trying to run his department is going too far. I've never been a sheriff and I'd guess many of you throwing accusations never have been either, so ease up on Sheriff Guider. He too is a good Christian man. My experience in law enforcement taught me many things, but one in particular, those that break the law and get caught dislike the officers that caught them, and always will. Support your sheriff. Obey the laws and all will be fine.

It's ashame that the taxpayers of Loudon County have to pay for the stupidity and coruption of Sheriff Guider. It cost the county thousands of dollars the last time he wrongfully fired Captain Shirk. How many more thousands of dollars will it cost taxpayers when Captain Shirk is either reinstated or to settle a lawsuit? All of you who voted Guider back into office should be ashamed of yourselves. We need a new Sheriff and a new Chief Deputy who are not corrupt. All Loudon County tax payers should get together and demand their resignation.

They have been looking for a reason to fire him for years now. Just because he doesn't stand by the drug embezzling that is going on. Bill Shirk is a good man, unlike Guider and if anyone needs to be fired, Its Guider!! Someone does need to do an investagation other than Loudon County's investigators. Bring in the FBI!!

THE ONLY THING THAT I KNOW IS THAT YOU MUST BE GETTING SOMETHING OUT OF IT, BUT WHAT? THE COMMUNITY OF LOUDON WOULD LIKE SOME ANWERS. THEIR IS MORE AND MORE PEOPLE DISLIKING YOU EVERYDAY. KEEP UP THE TERRIBLE WORK...

Your article made it sound like Captain Shirk was fired 2 years ago for violating policy. Obviously he was found to have done nothing wrong, therefore his job was given back to him. Just like in the current case, it should have never been taken from him to start with.

Your story did not mention that Captain Shirk was found to be WRONGFULLY terminated two years ago and was rewarded his job back after an investigation proved it to be so.

Mr. Shirk is a good Christian man, and the charges against him must be "trumped up". Someone needs to investigate the corruption going on in that department; they are trying to get rid of him because he could be a problem to all their corruption. I wish you would get a good investigate reporter to go find out the truth about this police department; and I hope his lawyer rings their butts and uncovers the real truth behind this "set up". Since Mr. Shirk is a fine upstanding man, he needs to find a better job anyway, but needs to be able to draw his pension from all the years he has spent in this department. The sheriff and his deputies will be found out sooner or later; because this corruption cannot last forever.
