Broadway Reopened After Gas Leak

Knoxville (WVLT) - Broadway is back open after a gas main break.

Knoxville Fire Department spokesman Captain Darrell Whitaker tells WVLT the crews were able to locate the leak and KUB crews are in the process of repairing the problem.

Broadway was closed from Gill to Central as crews work to shut off the gas.

Whitaker says 16 homes and businesses are without gas service following the break, but customers will have be present when gas is turned back on to avoid the possibility of an explosion.

Whitaker says everything is fine, and no homes had to be evacuated.
