Knoxville (WVLT) Knox County Commissioner Sharon Cawood has resigned her job working for the Knox County Circuit Court, Civil Sessions, and Juvenile Court Clerk's office

Circuit Court Clerk Cathy Quist confirms Cawood resignation effective August 17th.

Quist says she has received the resignation, but has not read it.

But Quist says, in talking with Cawood, she knows Cawood wanted to devote more time to her Knox County Commission District and her upcoming campaign to retain the seat.

Quist says Cawood did a fine job.

Quist says Cawood had been recently moved from the juvenile court clerk's office to a new position in Civil Sessions.

Cawood is one of two commissioners to represent the 6th District in Knox County Commission.

Calls to Cawood have not been returned.
