Lonsdale Homecoming

Lonsdale (WVLT) -- The past two days have been a homecoming for Knoxville's Lonsdale neighborhood.

The Lonsdale's homecoming has been held for 22 straight years.

It kicked off yesterday with a parade down Texas Avenue and will wrap up tomorrow afternoon.

Residents say it gives them a chance to come together as a community.

"It means togetherness to the community, coming together with families and friends and just reminiscing on old times and look and embracing toward a wonderful future," said Dennis Murphy, Chairman of the Lonsdale Homecoming Committee.

Believe it or not, Lonsdale was developed in 1890 when it was considered West Knoxville.

It would have been nice to know about this homecoming, say on Friday August 3, 2007.
