Knoxville (WVLT) - A Knox County school bus driver has been terminated after a first grade boy was left on his school bus Friday.
Knox County Schools spokesperson Russ Oaks says the East Knoxville Elementary School student fell asleep on bus number 580.
The driver, who Oaks identified as Harold Houser, continued on his second run, then parked the bus at Richard Yoakley School.
Oaks says the driver did not follow the proper inspection guidelines.
School leaders say the boy was left alone on the bus for about 15 minutes.
The boy is now safe with his parents.
The board of education will now decide if Houser's bussing company can continue with the school system.
