Shoes For School Program

Knoxville (WVLT) -- The Knoxville Urban League put on its 4th Annual Shoes for School Program this morning at Caswell Park.

Each year it draws several sponsor's from throughout the community, all intent on helping out young students in need.

"I think it's fantastic to see the kids knowing that they are going to have the supplies that they are going to need for school," said Amber Young from First Tennessee Bank. "They know they are going to have a better year. Everyone has got together to fund raise and its a great program. The kids are excited and we are having a fun time.".

Volunteers ended up handing out nearly 1200 pairs of shoes along with bags filled with various school supplies.
