Washington, (WVLT) - The man President Bush credits with helping him win the presidency is resigning.
The White House announced this morning that the president's close friend and chief political strategist Karl Rove is resigning.
The White House says Rove plans to leave the administration at the end of August.
A longtime member of Bush's inner circle, Rove was nicknamed "the architect" by the president for designing the strategy that twice won him the White House.
Rove has been a Republican political player since the 1970s and has advised Bush for more than a decade.
