Blount County (WVLT) Three fire departments in Blount County are teaming up to battle fires in the hot weather.

Alcoa, Maryville, and Blount County are all responding to calls in their area.

And all three responded to a fire on Pleasant View this afternoon.

Crews had to battle flames shooting more than 20 feet into the air.

Add to that, the extreme heat, and you need a lot of extra firefighters to fight a fire.

Doug McClanahan, with the Blount Co. Fire District says, "it's extremely hard on everybody."

There were no heat related issues for firefighters today.

But, a woman who lived in the home was taken to a nearby hospital with smoke inhalation..

Her injuries do not appear to be life threatening.
